Australia Day Challenge bringing communities together through cricket

The City of Dandenong will play host to a unique cricket and cultural event celebrating Australia Day 2012. The inaugural “Australia Day Multicultural Challenge” will take place on 26 January 2012 at Shepley Oval in Dandenong.

The year 2011 bought challenges, opportunities and ultimately success for Sports Without Borders. SWB continued programs like the grants program and Youth Action while adding leadership programs for newly arrived communities and the Social Inclusion Through Sports (SITS) program. Sports Without Borders, Moonee Valley City Council and Flemington Neighbourhood Renewal has assisted local junior soccer team, the Flemington Eagles with their participation in the Volkswagen National Junior Soccer Tournament in Sydney.

SWB Leadership Programs inspires youth

Sports Without Borders delivered the first in its Leadership programs at Dandenong High School on Friday 2^nd September.

The Centre For Multicultural Youth (CMY) ran the first day of the Sports Without Border’s Young Leadership Program with students from Dandenong High School and Cranbourne Secondary College. The thirty students, from various cultural backgrounds, were selected by the schools, City of Greater Dandenong and the City of Casey on the basis of their leadership skills both at school and in the community.
